I’ve just written an article on Medium What is the ideal of human existence? And then destiny had a way of testing have I really meant what I’ve written.
Today, I had to drive my car to the mechanic 15 km away from home and leave the car there. I decided to run back down a shortcut by the river Dragonja. It’s a 10 km path, crossing the shallow river 15 times. No problem for a barefooter!
I thought I’d run home swiftly since my trip to Spain begins tonight and I wanted to rest.
But … there was a but on the way …
Once I made it down to the river, the magic began …
The shadiest stretches of the valley offered phenomenal sights. To fully appreciate them I had to stop and look at intricate details closer …
… and close and closer …
No wind, no sun.
Just pockets of humidity caused by the river and delicate 3D patterns. No photo can do them justice.
I stood there and marveled at the wonders of nature.
The dance of water and ice continued…
My run/walk went on for 2 hours. Once I made it back to the top of the hill, a rosehip bush drew my attention and I picked some berries for tea.
The bushy 10 km track has left some marks on my feet, but they’re used to it. No big deal…
I made it back home just in time for the classical sunset.
Nothing spectacular this time, but as I said in the beginning: Have I really meant what I’ve written in my article? Can I appreciate tiny pearls of beauty?
I stopped and marveled again. Yes, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
