Najbolj varno je živeti tukaj in zdaj … 
… kajti nikoli se ne ve, kdaj bo sveta konec,
kdaj se bo sesulo to ali tisto, kdaj bo vojna,
kdaj bo kriza, kdaj bodo prišli teror-isti
(tisti isti, ki jih srečujemo vsak dan, le s terorjem v očeh).
Najbolj varno je živeti tukaj in zdaj,
brez strahu pred umirajočimi sardelami v Čileju,
izginjajočim ledom na Arktiku,
povoženimi v Berlinu
in brez veselja nad zmagami
Ilke Štuhec in Domna Prevca.

Živeti tukaj in zdaj je bilo v letu 2016 prekrasno:
polne glave, polne baterije, polne riti,
vse na voljo, vse poceni, vse pri roki.
Že kmalu bo morda drugače …
… tudi če bo v letu 2017 zmanjkalo,
udobja, obilja, elektrike, hrane,
bo še vedno najbolj varno živeti tukaj in zdaj.

Kar je, je; zato sem srečen.
Točno tega vam želim.
Bodite blagoslovljeni v tukaj in zdaj,
Novo leto gor ali dol.

… because you never know when the world will come to an end,
when this or that will fall apart, when will war,
crisis and terrorists come by
(terror-ists, you know: those same people,
you’re meeting every day,
but with terror in their eyes).
It is safest to live here and now …
not fearing the dying sardines in Chile,
the disappearing Arctic ice,
the dying under a truck in Berlin,
and not rejoicing the victories
of Ilka Štuhec and Domen Prevc.

To live here and now in 2016 was amazing:
full heads, full batteries, full bottoms,
everything was available, cheap, handy.
Very soon this may change …
… but in 2017, even if you lose all the
comfort, abundance, electricity, food,
it will still be safest to live here and now.

Whatever is, is; therefore I am happy.
That’s exactly what I wish you:
Be blessed in the here and now,
and New Year won’t really matter.
